Robert Geller with American Vogue

It would not be out of character for me to say that I love being able to watch someone evolve over time. Now I have been a fan of Robert Geller since his days at Cloak working alongside Alexandre Plokhov. His signature romanticism look consisting of gypsy pants and weightless looking scarfs.

On to the topic at hand, Robert Geller has recently been bestowed with the honor as a Nominee of the CFDA. Given this opportunity Mr. Robert Geller not only has the possibility of a monetary reward but the unmatched publicity and all the added benefit that comes along with that. Some of that wonderful publicity is already showing its head in a little challenge put together by the CFDA where all participating designers had to put together look for the modern Ann Taylor woman.

Now I adore his view of the Ann Taylor woman and how she shares much in common with the Robert Geller man. Not far out of the comfort zone of his past few collections, which is far from a bad thing when it works so well especially adapted to a female figure. If these pieces actually got released I would not hesitate to pick them up for a girl I know. Wishing the best for Geller and his team.

The Informant

Last weekend on YNPR radio there was an interview with Matt Damon and Director Steven Soderbergh discussing their recent film, The Informant. One portion of the interview that really caught my interest was when Damon delivered a line with so much emotion and regret in his voice that Soderbergh had to yell cut. Saying to Damon that the line was great but in the wrong movie, deliver it like an award acceptance speech. That line sums up the movie’s main character, Mark Whitarce, quite well.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Informant. It was a fun mix of comedy and intrigue without leading to far into overly serious territory.

Generic Surplus, the offshoot of Generic Man, has been floating around for a little while. The Generic Surplus collection started off as an affordable and ultra casual take on the sneaker market showing up in places like Urban Outfitters and a handful of online shops like KarmaLoop. A year later and a few steps higher in the evolution process and you get a refined showing of beautiful footwear for a price that still allows you to splurge on those striped Robert Geller trousers at the end of the month. You can’t say anything bad to that.

It is a new year. 2009 wasn’t much special but I just have this feeling for 2010. Though this can be the same feeling you get during the beginning of every year. Though with around half a dozen resolutions and goals I think this will be a year where things are easy to have success.

The shoe without a doubt is a real piece of art captured in some truly beautiful footwear. Only avaliable for the month of October for 600 UK pounds this is one item that one can not be sleeping on.

Sept 24th: A New York trip?

So I took a little day trip to New York late last week and had a good time. I haven’t been up there in almost a year so I decided it would be best to go with one of my co-workers. Him and I spent most of the time hunting down that infamous F/W 09 H & M chain belt but we had no luck at all. Darn!

Good thing that wasn’t all we were up there for. I really enjoyed my time in Bloomingdale’s since it allowed me to touch the Robert Geller for Levi’s collection. I want the sherpa vest but can’t spare five hundred dollars for it.

Zara had a few winter coats that are now on my “must-have” list, with the big buckle coat and brown leather taking the top spots. The shop Atrium also surprised me with their stock especially since I left unimpressed when I visited last. Now they had the John Varvatos Murray zip boot and the Shades of Greige bag I’ve been eyeballing for a few months. Maybe I am just a little bit greedy?

Either way I can’t wait till I am up there again. If all goes well it should be next week. Need to pick up that Zara coat and some Uniqlo goodies!

PS. One thing I must add. $8.95 for a day pass? $89 for a monthly? Shit man those prices could kill me! On the flipside I would never use my car anyway.
